designing courses through stories and games for kids PK-5 at Happy Numbers team, with data analysis on student performance.
Math tasks used to be demotivating for students because part of learning math is solving a huge number of tasks, it’s too boring. To make them funny and interesting, I designed several topics, with data analysis (number of mistakes, amount of time on a task, most common incorrect answers), storytelling and real-life math problems, animation and congrats.
misunderstanding or lack of knowledge
There are significant markers to see if the exercises are difficult to understand or not engaging, or usability problems: number of mistakes students make, amount of time on a task, number of students dropped off.
making inclusive and accessible
Kids need a design that follows different usability guidelines. Design should be focused on their behavior: slow typists, poor mouse control, children’s attention, etc.
I designed exercises with audio autoplay for the youngest students, auto-drag, accessibility test. I tested math games to uncover problems and enhance inclusivity.
